Critical Care - Pharmacy
Pharmacy Staff work accross all clinical areas as well as the main Pharmacy Department, the department provides and maintains the supply of drugs and supports the multidisciplinary teams by advising on appropriate medicines, routes of administration, side effects, drug compatibility, electronic prescribing and general advice, the service also provides advice to patients along with counselling and support.
The pharmacy staff consists of Pharmacists, Pharmacy technicians and Assistants. Each Directorate has a Directorate Pharmacist who can offer support in their respective area of expertise and sustain good communication links accross clinical areas.
The department also participates regulary in Clinical Audits and Research Projects accross the Trust, presenting their reports to multidisciplinary groups and committies and fully supports the Medicines Management agenda. It undertakes the teaching of both nursing the medical staff in pharmacy related packages and electronic prescribing.
Location and Opening Hours
The Pharmacy department is based on the ground floor of the Crown Street site.
The pharmacy department is open 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. An on-call service is provided out of hours for emergencies. There is access to the pharmacy Night cupboard for emergency supplies of medicines.
