Your Out Patient Visit

The Joint Clinic at the Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust is a multiprofessional clinic, which is held weekly.Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust

The purpose of this clinics is to plan, assess and support women with a diagnosis of gynaecological cancer and subsequent treatment. The treatment option most appropriate for the patient is discussed with specialist consultants, sometimes in joint consultation which can be time consuming, but allows individual treatment planning and ensures your ongoing needs are individually assessed.

The Team of Consultants Includes:

  • 4 Surgical Gynaecological Oncologists
  • 2 Consultants Clinical Oncologist / Specialist Radiotherapist
  • 2 Consultants Medical Oncologist, who specialise in Chemotherapy
  • A Consultant in Pallative Medicine - who specialises in pain and control symptoms

Other Professionals - That may be able to help and support you and your family include:

  • 3 Clinical Nurse Specialists in Gynaecological cancer and special palliative care
  • Dietian - Who can offer advice and support through your Pre and Post Treatments
  • Macmillan Specialist Social Worker - who can offer advice regarding home support and finances
  • Gynae/ Onc and Lymphoedema Support Nurse - who can support and advise you on Lymphodema

Attending The Clinic

This clinic is a multiprofessional clinic, this mean that you may need to discuss your care with more than one member of the multidisciplinery team, (doctors, nurses and other members of the team).

This does effect the running of the clinic and you may have to wait for longer then you expected. We will do our best to keep delays to a minimum and appreciate your help with this.

Who you may meet at your Out Patients Clinic?

  • Consultants (Surgery, Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy and Paliative Medicine)
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist - Gynaecology and Oncology - The purpose of this assessment is to support you after treatment. It is an oppertunity to talk to throught any issues you may have, in a private environment over a longer period of time(40 mins)
  • Lymphoedema Support Nurse
  • Specialist Dietician
  • Macmillan Specialist Social Worker
