Supervision of Midwives
Statutory Midwifery Supervision provides a mechanism for support and guidance to every midwife practising in the UK. The purpose of supervision being to protect the women and babies by actively promoting a safe standard of midwifery practice. Supervision is a means of promoting excellence in midwifery care, by supporting midwives to practise with confidence, therefore preventing poor practice. (ENB 1999)./newimg_075.jpg)
The Aims Of Supervision Of Midwifery:
- Enables midwives to provide high quality care
- To act as a 'guardian of good practice'
- To be a source of guidance and support to midwives
- Ensuring consistency and high standards of care are maintained
- Empowering and encouraging midwives to provide care that is evidence based and flexible meeting the needs of individual women
