About the Emergency Room

Liverpool Women's Hospital provides a comprehensive range of in-patient and out-patient gynaecological services. It is a regional centre for oncology and reproductive medicine and provides specialist services for urogynaecology and miscarriage.

We are on the second floor of the hospital and can be reached via the 2 sets of lifts on the ground floor.

When are we open?

The Emergency Room is open 7 days a week,24 hours a day. Although ultrasound facilities are available within the department these are available between 9 - 4 p.m. Monday - Friday only.

On arrival

You will be seen by a nurse who will take your personal details and will ask about your symptoms.

Who should attend?

  • This hospital only treats women who have emergency gynaecological problems or women under 16 weeks pregnant and have a pregnancy related problem. We are unable to provide treatment for any unrelated health problems you might have
  • Ideally you should attend with a letter from your G.P
  • We also take referrals from other hospital and from Abacus, Brooke or other Family Planning Clinics

Waiting times

As this is an unplanned service, the amount of time you wait will depend upon the number of people attending the department. You will be informed of any delays and we will do our best to ensure that you are seen as soon as possible.Liverpool Women's NHS FOundation Trust
