Radiology

Clinical Imaging Manager

The Clinical Manager is responsible for ensuring that an effective and efficient imaging service is provided for all patients attending the imaging department, satellite units and wards of Liverpool Women’s Hospital. Oversees and organises workload relative to staff numbers, prioritises requests for imaging services and liaises with referrers and other staff to optimise service delivery. They also participate in the unsupervised scanning and report writing of ultrasonic examinations.

The Clinical Manager is also responsible for scanning and independent reporting of specialised ultrasound lists which include:

Testicular scanning- Regional referrals to the Reproductive Medical Unit for male infertility- the catchment area includes North Wales including Anglesey and the North West of England as far as the Southern Lake District.

Nuchal Thickness scanning service for high risk pregnancies. For the detection of Trisomy and the early detection of congenital cardiac defects. Additional training and certification by the Fetal Medicine Foundation has been undertaken.

Lymph node biopsies are undertaken with the Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist under ultrasound control.

The Clinical Manager is also one of the radiation protection offices for the Trust

Radiology Services Manager

Supports the directorate manager in the operational management of department and supports development of PACS and modernising diagnostic services. Develop, maintain and advance the practice and education of all, Professionals Allied to Medicine and clerical staff.

Provide management support as required in all areas of the department, leading risk management and workforce development within the operational plans

Clinical Tutor/Advanced Practitioner in Medical Ultrasound

The clinical tutor is responsible for the organisation, supervision, training and assessment of student sonographers, midwives, doctors, nurses and other relevant staff as appropriate. The clinical tutor is actively involved in the theoretical training to MSc level at Liverpool University as Professional Practice Facilitator supporting the Director of Studies.

Responsible for the development of role extension and development to qualified staff within the Trust. In addition the Clinical Tutor actS as advanced practitioner involved in the delivery of all ultrasound services attending the imaging department, satellite units and wards, with some weekend working and on-call cover for the Neo-Natal unit as required.

Specialist Sonographer/Advanced PractitionerCritical Care Staff at Liverpool Women's Hospital

Works unsupervised in delivering all aspects of:Obstetric and Gynaecology scanning, Advanced fetal monitoring-BPP,Dopler and any new techniques developed in the future.

The Sonographer acts independently, interpreting scan findings and producing written free text reports on examinations performed. Excellent communication skills are essential due to the need to deliver highly sensitive information to both patients and relatives.

Advanced Practitioner in Radiography/PACS Facilitator

Take an active role in the delivery of multi-disciplinary unsupervised, high quality imaging services to Trust patients, staff and other users.

Duties encompass obstetric, gynaecology and neo-natal imaging. Bone Densitometry and specialised hysterosalpingography services are an important part of the post.

Participates in training, audit, education and quality control is essential.

Health Care Assistant

Daily liaison with rest of Imaging Team (both clinical and clerical) to ensure efficient running of appointment lists. Courteous reception of patients ensuring correct patient identification following the Department’s ID Policy and handover to appropriate practitioners following department’s policy.

Appropriate preparation of the patient for imaging, i.e. explanation reassurance and undressing as appropriate to the examination to be undertaken. Ensure changing cubicles are clean and tidy and that there is a supply of clean gowns available. Once trained prepare equipment for Imaging Procedure e.g. Ensure films and chemistry available in laser printer.

Administration

Directorate Office Manager – Critical Care

Management and co-ordination of all clerical and secretarial services within the Directorate ensuring appropriate clerical cover is provided for all aspects of work undertaken.

Provide full secretarial services to the Radiology Service Manager and Clinical Imaging Manager.

Radiology Clerk / Typist

Provide administrative/clerical and typing support to the Imaging department. Make a positive contribution to the organisation of the workload of the departments.

Directorate Information Lead

To Support the Directorate Manager and Scheduling Team in ensuring effective and accurate provision of information services and directorate office activities. Support the analysis and interpretation of information and collate reports. To support and become a team member of the IPH programme facilitating staff in implementing new ways of working.

Pharmacy Clerk / Typist

Provide administrative/clerical support and typing support to the Pharmacy Department. The post holder will carry out his/her duties in such a way as to make a positive contribution to the organisation of the workload of the department.

Data Officer / Secretary

Working within the Critical Care Team across gynaecology and obstetrics, support and track HDU activity within data collection framework. Work closely with the information team in providing reports to the team within the Trust and also to the Critical Care Network. To fulfil network responsibilities in monitoring critical care capacity and information regarding transfers. Provide secretarial support to the Deputy Directorate Manager as required.

PA to Directorate Manager

Provide a comprehensive administrative service for the Directorate Manager, Clinical Director and Clinical Governance Lead. Maintain and be accountable for the Adverse Clinical Events database and producing accurate quarterly reports. Co-ordinate and be responsible for all guidelines within the Directorate. Support and co-ordinate the clerical team within the Directorate Office.

Critical Care at Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation TrustAnaesthetic Secretary

Provide comprehensive personal and confidential secretarial support to Clinical Director, Anaesthetic Consultants, junior grades and trainees. Support and complete administration for the Consultant Anaesthetist responsible for planning of weekly rotas, monthly and 3 monthly on-call rota’s, incorporating annual Leave, study leave and theatre schedules. Manage the appointment system for anaesthetic clinic patients. Provide & co-ordinate induction and orientation for all trainees, new Consultants and Doctors to the hospital and Anaesthetic/Theatre Departments.
