Antenatal Clinics
The Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust provides pregnant women and their partners a number of support clinics tat they can attend throughout their antenatal care.
Young Women’s Antenatal Clinic:
Situated in the antenatal clinics at Crown St and Aintree Centre
This is a service developed for pregnant teenagers aged 17 or younger. Other ages can be referred if needed.
Crown St:
Staffed by 2 specialist midwives – Lorna Wood & Sue Thompson (Teenage Pregnancy Midwife)
Aintree:
Staffed by midwife Angie Mulholland
Consists of:
Crown Street - Antenatal booking clinic – Tuesday P.M. where all teenagers are booked by Sue Thompson.
Revisit clinic – Monday P.M. which is staffed by Lorna Wood & Sue Thompson where all teenagers are reviewed after the 20 week scan and a pathway of care created to suit their needs. Some may continue with full antenatal care at LWH others will have a shared care schedule with the community midwives.
Parent education & parenting class which runs every Monday 12.00 – 13.00 before the revisit clinic – staffed by Sue Thompson.
A postnatal /sexual health clinic – Monday A.M. staffed by Sue Thompson. The named consultant obstetrician for this service is Dr. Joanne Topping.

Link Clinic
Situated in the antenatal clinic at Crown Street.
This is a service developed for women who’s first language is not English
Staffed by community midwives and Link workers from PCT’s.
Consists of:
Antenatal booking clinic – Monday A.M.
Revisit clinic – Monday A.M. where all women are reviewed after the 20 week scan and a pathway of care created to suit their needs. Most women will continue with full antenatal care at LWH with either the Link worker or an interpreter, others will have a shared care schedule with the community midwives if requested or if language is English. 2 specialist midwives Lorna Wood & Dorcas Akeju and a named community midwife for Asylum and Refugee women – Sue Rixon.
Interpreters are booked for each visit if needed.
Parent education & parenting class are booked in advance when a number of women need this service and an interpreter booked for these classes depending on the language needs.

Multiple Pregnancy Clinic:
Situated in the antenatal clinics at Crown St and Aintree Centre. This is a service developed for all women who are pregnant with more than one baby.
Consists Of:
Crown St site: Clinic on Wednesday all day. Staffed by Specialist midwife – Lorna Wood & midwife Claire Campbell (Aintree) and fetal centre midwives.
Consultants – Prof. Neilson and Dr. Bricker.
Crown Street - Revisit clinic on Wednesday all day. Staffed by Lorna Wood & Claire Campbell Based in the Fetal Centre.
All multiple pregnancies booked at Crown St are offered antenatal care and also high risk multiple pregnancies are referred from other areas and also Aintree for review or transfer care.
High risk women (ie) triplets, higher order multiples, other problems will be seen as early as possible in the Fetal Centre for review by a consultant and a plan of care created.
Twin pregnancies with no other problems will be seen after the 20 week scan and a pathway of care created to suit their needs. Some may continue with full antenatal care at LWH others will have a shared care schedule with the community midwives depending on risks / problems.
A parent education & parenting class specifically for multiple pregnancies is offered at the Aintree & Crown St sites every 2 months as an evening session. Facilitated by the midwife and attended by parents of multiples who are also members of TAMBA.
Timetable of the evening sessions are in the special multiple pregnancy booking pack given at booking appointment.

Medical Disorders Clinic
Situated in the antenatal clinics at Crown St and Aintree Centre. This is a service developed for all women who are pregnant with an existing medical problem or a newly diagnosed problem during pregnancy.
Consists of:
Crown St site:
Booking clinic on Tuesday A.M
Revisit clinic on Tuesday A.M.
Staffed by a team including:
Specialist midwife – Lorna Wood
Consultant obstetrician Mr. Walkinshaw
Consultant endocrinologist Dr Purewal
Diabetes Specialist Nurses Gill Morrison and Sue Spellman
Dietician Julie Abayomi
Aintree Site: Revisit clinic with Dr. Bricker
Some women (ie) diabetes will have full care at LWH. Other women will have a review and shared care depending on the medical problem.
